Quincy, MA asked in Employment Law and Immigration Law for Massachusetts

Q: Can I work on my personal social media while I'm on a L1A visa?

I currently have a L1A visa. I am aware that you aren’t allowed to work/make money from anything else beside the company who sponsored my visa.

I used to be active on my own social media in the country I came from and I would like to carry on working on it here in America during my free time as I don’t know anyone or have anything else to do.

I would like to do is to start up my Youtube channel again. I know that I would be able to make great content which could reach many views.

Is there any legal way from me to monetize my Youtube channel so that I don’t loose any potential income?

Could I perhaps put the youtube account on my moms name (My mom is in America and has her EAD.)and have the money go to her rather that to no one? Or could I link everything to the country I came from, so all the money goes there?

If there isn’t a legal way around it then that’s fine, I just want to make sure I have looked at all possibilities and to make sure I don’t do anything illegal.
