Brick, NJ asked in Consumer Law, Criminal Law, Traffic Tickets and Civil Rights for New Jersey

Q: If I got pulled over for doing 93 in a 65 mph zone by an unmarked police car, Can I fight it in court?

I was doing 93 in a 65 mph zone on the turnpike, but as far as I know an unmarked police car (gray Dodge Charger) with no insignias, can not give citations for traffic violations. If I go to court and show proof through a video it was an unmarked car, can I get out of the ticket?

A: Unfortunately in NJ it is perfectly acceptable to get a ticket from an officer in an unmarked car. I suggest you get a lawyer for your ticket as most judges if you go to court will suspend your license when the speed is 90 or more.

A: No, you can not. Unmarked cars are legal.
