Vicksburg, MS asked in Personal Injury and Car Accidents for Mississippi

Q: Have money in a trust at a lawyer's office, can't get any one to return calls or emails. What is the next step?

The money was part of an insurance settlement from an accident. Per the attorney, the money was owed to a health care provider but when I spoke with a representative from the insurance company, they stated there was no money owed to them. I asked the law office to send me a copy of the statement from the company showing where this money was owed, but I have yet to get a response. I call almost everyday only to get a voicemail, but no return call. It has been 2 months now and I can't get anyone to return any of my calls or answer any of my emails.

A: First, get a note from the insurance company that no money is owed.

Then contact the attorney complaints office of your county bar association.
