Q: I live in PA. My landlord states I broke lease because I didn't vacuum and the stove was a little dirty. What can i do?
Yesterday my landlord came with the routine exterminator to spray the apartments. The landlord gave me less than a 24 hour notice that he was coming even though the lease states he has to give me at least that much before entering. Regardless, I received a text from my landlord last night stating I am in violation of part of the lease. That part states "tenant must keep property safe and clean". He states that because the stove was dirty (only had the normal dirty from the normal cooking), the carpet wasn't vacuumed in about a week, the cat litter needed emptied (had only about 2 days worth of anything in it) , and the spare room still smells like it did before I moved in, I violated the lease. I am wandering if he can actual do anything about that. The apartment is completely sanitary and safe. Nothing wrong other than the normal day to day dirt.
A: You write back and without talking about what he did just say you must disagree, and why. I would suggest you contact Legal Aid or an attorney who used to work for them
