I am involved in a domestic violence case. My girlfriend hit me and someone called the police. She went to jail for 3 days and then was released because I told the court I moved away so she could be released. Now they are hitting her with a felony charge and her lawyer wants me to write a statement saying she didnt hit me so she cant get charged. She was drunk and falling all over the place, breaking things, punching doors and had bruises all over her. The police took pictures of all her bruises. She is now saying if i dont write the statement, they are going to trial and she is gonna call all her family members to testify against me and give me charges. What should i do?
A:
a lawyer needs a lot more info.
as an officer of the court i can not tell you to lie.
if you change your story there may be an issue of perjury.
you need a local lawyer to review and maybe talk to her lawyer
