Q: emancipation

i’m 17 from oklahoma and i’m wondering if l could file for emancipation. l am not living in an abusive household, however, they continuously drain me mentally. l have a place to live figured out, it’s an apartment complex that charges based on income. i’m a junior in high school, but l plan on doing online courses during the summer to graduate early, so l can start college sooner.

A: It's not an easy question to answer. The Judge will want to do what's in your best interests. Since you aren't in an abusive situation, and your complaint is "mentally draining", I have doubts about this happening. If you want some real heavy mental and emotional draining, try living alone, supporting yourself, cooking, cleaning, going to school, transportation, and much more.

A: To add to my prior answer, if you still want to go forward, save about $2000 or more for a retainer for the attorney, and court costs, and be prepared to spend more.
