Q: 18 yr child I pay child support dropped out of school for the past 2 years in New Jersey can I get child support termed
The child has not been in school since 2015. She is not in school at all. I recently found out the mother of the child kicked her out I want to get the case terminated I hope I will not have an issue even though I am behind I have no issue paying what I owe but at this point I am paying and the child isnt even in the residence
A: The law in New Jersey recently changed regarding the emancipation of children. Under certain conditions, emancipation occurs automatically at the age of 19. Although your daughter is only 18, you may still be able to file a motion for emancipation if certain conditions apply. You should contact a Family Law attorney.
