Winter Garden, FL asked in Child Support for Florida

Q: When the child support ends, 18 or 21?

Mother and father moved from PR and live now in FL (5 years). Mother has custody, the order for child support was filed in PR (through ASUME). We are not paying through them I just deposit the amount to here's bank account. My daughter turns 18 in February 2018 and finish high school on May. When the child support ends?18 (Florida) or 21 (PR)? Do I need to make contact in PR (ASUME) to let them know?, Do I need to file a lawsuit to transfer the case to FL and close the case in PR? Can I stop making payments on May 2018 or in February 2018? I guess PR doesn't have jurisdiction anymore.

A: It depends upon what the Puerto Rican court order says; if it says 21, that's when it ends. And no, in my opinion the Puerto Rican court still has jurisdiction, although an application could be made to a Florida court to enforce the order of the Puerto Rican court.
