Asked in Traffic Tickets for New York

Q: Mandatory Ct App?

Got pulled over for speeding doing 16 MPH over. Wanted me to plea guilty by Oct 23. I never plead. Received a letter in mail saying I owe X amount of dollars for ticket. I called to pay ticket I live in FL and got pulled over in NY by the way. They are saying regardless if I am out of state resident, I still have a required mandatory court appearance. Is there any way to fight this? I have no problem paying the ticket I just dont want to buy a plane ticket and pay for Uber and a hotel for a night on top of the ticket. What can I do?

A: Mandatory appearance for a 16 MPH speed? Doesn't sound right. Show your ticket to an attorney.
