New York, NY asked in Traffic Tickets for New York

Q: I had a question about points. I got three violatations.i got 23 tickets within the same year 5 points each.

I was convicted on three different years for three tickets violation that i got in 2014.First ticket violation on 2/14/2014 convicted 3/15/2014, 2nd violation on 4/03/14 convicted 5/20/2016, 3rd violation on 02/28/2014 convicted 1/25/2018 DMV.org says that points will be added when convicted. As of right now it is only showing 10 points no suspension. Will my license be suspended??

A: If you were convicted in the Traffic Violations Bureau (I am assuming based on the long delay) the ALJ does not have the ability to not add the points to your license if you are convicted, that is done automatically by the DMV computer. The ALJ does have discretion to not suspend you based on points.

Being that you don't see the points on your record yet, it could be that this transaction simply hasn't been processed yet. You may or may not be suspended. Make sure the DMV has your correct address because they will mail a suspension notice to you. The suspension will not start until at least 30 days of the date of conviction.

During the suspension time, you may be eligible for a restricted use license, obtainable at a local DMV office.
