Orlando, FL asked in Divorce, Family Law and Civil Litigation for Florida

Q: Adult child (20) stuck between divorced parents suing and counter suing each other for child support payments.

They have been in several legal battles over a decade and have kept me out of it. However, they have involved me this time and are requesting certain things in writing. I would just like to know If I am allowed to obtain the legal papers involved in the court case, so I can take appropriate action after knowing the unbiased full details of the case.

A: First and foremost, I am very sorry to hear that your parents are putting you through this. If you really want to know what is going on and what has gone on in the case over the years, you can obtain the documents. Most documents filed with the court are public record. Simply go to the courthouse and ask for copies of all of the documents that have been filed. Good luck.

A: You, like any other citizen you are allowed to obtain the divorce paperwork. You can obtain all of the paperwork from the clerk of courts office.
