A: Go to the website below and download the Petition for Protection from Domestic Violence form, fill it out, and take it to the District Court location in your jurisdiction, and ask to meet with someone from the domestic violence help desk and file the petition. You will be taken before a District Court Commissioner or a judge (depending on the time of day you go there), they will review your petition, and will issue a temporary protective order to be served on your ex-boyfriend. A hearing will be held where you both need to appear, and a judge can issue a final protective order for up to a year. Violation of the order is a criminal offense, so the penalties are significant if he violates it. You have described stalking and harassment. You need to be as specific as possible with the dates and number of unwanted contacts, and save all his past unwanted contacts (text messages, facebook postings, emails, telephone calls, etc.). You must state that you told him to stop and he has ignored the request. Good luck.
