An Entry of Appearance is a written document filed in a case, with a copy mailed to the other attorney (or the other party if no attorney) which acknowledges receiop of a copy of the summons and petition, or other paperwork received, and states that a time, usually 20 days, is reserved within which to further plead or answer.
Failure to do this, or file an answer can result in a default judgment against you.
