Asked in Car Accidents and Personal Injury for Mississippi

Q: 4 months since car accident. Injuries became apparent over time. Is it too late to do anything?

Sheriffs vehicle pulled onto hwy in front of us, we were traveling approx 50 mph, and we hit him. I had xrays done at ER bc of leg pain & numbness in knee. Xrays showed no breaks but dr took note of those injuries plus a knot on my back but said I was prob just severely bruised. However after 4 months its apparent the injuries were more severe I need to see a dr regarding my knees, hips & back. Is it too late for a personal injury case to help with dr bills?

A: From the facts presented, it looks as though your potential claim falls within the statute of limitations. The issue that you may have is overcoming the Mississippi Tort Claims Act, which shields municipalities and political subdivisions from claims under particular circumstances. As this is time sensitive, you should contact an attorney to go through the particular facts of your case, types of injuries that developed, etc.
