Q: How can I start a business online with 50 people from around the world?

Live in Toronto, Canada.

Founded an independent video game studio communicating online and file-sharing.

Many are in USA, but people help from countries all over Earth.

"Staff" information is together, but I wonder what is possible in terms of a company.

We create intellectual property and need non-disclosure agreements for information we can’t afford to have leaked.

What action is necessary to maintain my role as founder and include others in a company as equal share partners?

I and maybe one other will take on the responsibility, but we want to ensure others are non-liable board members within a c-corporation.

The investing population will be foreigners to each other.

We anticipate international revenue.

Already a collection for seed money as a private Patreon.

(subscription content service)

Funds are in a personal bank account in Texas.

I want to know how to manage an investment fund.

Where would be the best place to start?

Is Canada a good opportunity?

Thanks!

A: Setting it up right from the start matters, and I need to know much more information to get it right. There are many complex choices based on guesses as to future facts. The cheapest, easiest answer is a C-Corp and giving out stock, but, as you can afford it, you want NDAs, Employee Stick Options, employment agreements with non-competes that will at least be decent for informal enforcement. Your best bet is to buy an hour with the right lawyer and discuss a legal business plan.
