Q: Vehicle Suspension from NJ Motor Vehicle Commission from old NY ticket
I'm in a bit of a fickle here. I live in Jersey City and I got this notice from the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission that they are scheduling suspension of my license because I "failed to answer summons(es) from New York. " :
"By authority of NJSA 39:5-30, the Motor Vehicle Comission has scheduled suspension of your NJ driving privilege because you failed to answer summons(es) in the following court or foreign state:
NEW YORK - Contact their Department of Motor Vehicle "
NY did not provide any locator reference at the back of the notice. Apparently the citation happened in 02/13/2017.I do not recall ever being pulled over or getting any tickets via mail or meter maid. I moved in May 2017 to a new location so I wonder if the summons got lost in the mail? The NJ equivalent of this offense is :"FAIL TO OBSERVE TRAFFIC CNTRL DEVICE"
I checked NYC finance and other traffic sites for a some history of my ny offenses but found none. Any idea what is going on? Is it a court date I missed?
A:
Your license in NY is already suspended. A check of your NY driving record will show in which court the ticket was filed.
Unfortunately, without a NYS license/ID you will not be able to use the MyDMV login. https://dmv.ny.gov/dmv-records/get-my-own-driving-record-abstract
Mailing a record request will take 2+ weeks.
Any NYS attorney with a DMV database login should be able to access your NYS driving record.
