Asked in Immigration Law for Georgia

Q: I want to marry my boyfriend but he's coming on a tourist visa. How did we prove that we have a legitimate relationship?

How do we prove that our relationship is real? He has been denied a visa 3 times. I also visited him in his home country before.

A: If you are trying to bring your boyfriend here for the express purpose of marrying him, his visa will never be approved; in fact, it is the exact opposite of what he wants to show. A tourist visa is for temporary visits to the US, and one of the requirements to get one is evidence that the applicant intends to return to his country of origin at the end of temporary travel to the US. Showing that your boyfriend is going to marry you when he gets here shows he plans to stay.

You have two options: marry your boyfriend in his country of origin and then file an immigrant visa petition, or bring him here on a fiancé visa.
