Q: I placed my 89 y/o mother in a nursing home in Puerto Rico after she had fallen many times and broken multiple bones she
resisted . When hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico I went to the island and brought her to live with me in Clermont Florida at the beginning she was ok but now I am going insane because she mistreats the people I have taking care of her and all she says she wants to go back to her house in Puerto Rico. Although she maintains relatively good mental status she is !00% housebound and 100 % bedridden She needs assistance for everything(toilet, bathing ,all ADL's )I work full time she has fought with my brother and sister they don't want to care for her. I want to place her in a nursing home in Florida near me I live in Clermont Florida but she is resistant How can I make sure I can place her in a nursing home and make sure she stays there.
A: If your mother is 100% compentnent. You cannot force her to go to a nursing home. She will have to voluntarily agree to go.
