Q: How can I get custody of my brother's newborn?
My brother and his girlfriend are pregnant again. They already have 2 other kids ages 2 and under. They want to put this child up for adoption. I am willing to take this child and care for it as my own, but I want them to give up all their parental rights so they can't try to take the child from me later down the road. They have agreed to this because they know it is what's best. How do we do this?
A: You will have to to file a petition for adoption. If they are both on board to terminate and allow you to adopt, it shouldn’t be difficult at all. Contact a lawyer who does adoptions in your area and consult them. You will need help getting it done.
