Q: How should i best handle charges due to U-Haul truck damages that I did not cause?

Dispatch:

- truck was not checked with me by an employee (neglect of standard procedure)

- no damages during trip - not even contact with a tree

- dropped -off that day

- week later charges for 2,000 in damages put on credit card they had on file with not so much as a call

- flash forward to today - I have filed a dispute with uhaul that is now going on 2 weeks with no progress ... when I call for updates I get a run around and deflected to insurance who then refers me back to uhaul manager (not answering my calls at drop off location)

***I would like to know I am being represented in this dispute case and want the adjuster to do more than what they assure me he is doing - which is pulling tapes from us pulling out of the parking lot at the pick up location to see if damage is visible. I want tapes to be pulled from inside the store to prove the employee never walked out and checked the truck with us

A: Hope you told your credit card company the amount is in dispute. Did you have witnesses? Find out what they are claiming are the damages--if it's things like undercarriage likely you didn't cause them.
