Atlanta, GA asked in Employment Law and Tax Law for Georgia

Q: I worked for one week and never filled out a W4 or an I9. Can an employer issue paycheck without?

The employer is saying they cannot issue the pay without my tax information. Is that correct? It was only for one week and would prefer to not divulge social security, etc. if not necessary.

A: Yes. You need to provide the information. This is the only way they can properly report the taxes to the IRS.
