Q: I own a commercial bldg in an Ohio town near where i live appraised at 74,600. Corrupt officials are trying to take it.
On or about 4/5/18 I will be forced to sell for the paltry sum of $5,000. Otherwise I will be fined $24,000. They want my property which sits on a very large commercial lot, for the benefit of their friends who own the business next door, and needs land for parking. This is not eminent domain. They have forced me to spend over $40,000 in legal and professional fees in order to keep them from getting it. I would still like to prevent the city from getting away with their bullying behavior against me. All of the lawyers nearby appear to be friends with the city's lawyer and don't want to get involved. I would prefer to give the property away rather than to let these corrupt people get away with their confiscation on behalf of their cronies. Can you please help me? Or do you know of some public legal group who is concerned with government abuse and bullying enough to get involved? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
A: As previously answered, use the Find a Lawyer tab to retain a local attorney. A local attorney might be aware of local groups that might get involved. Or a local legal clinic, legal aid, or law school. You might also contact local news media.
