Madison, NJ asked in Traffic Tickets for New Jersey

Q: My mother lives in Parsippany Morris County New Jersey. Yesterday she received a failure to appear in court notice.

Apparently, she was issued a parking ticket in Jersey City for street cleaning on 2-26.

1. My mother has never been to Jersey City in her life.

2. The ticket was issued on a Monday at 1:22pm. She drives a school bus and was working at that day and time.

3. When I looked up the ticket online, it said the make was a Honda. My mother drives a Hyundai Elantra.

Obviously, there was some kind of error made or someone is using her plate numbers. I want to know if there is any way of taking care of this by phone or email without going to court. I tried calling the Jersey City court, but no one EVER answers the phone no matter when I call. From the complaints I read online this is normal. The only way to ask questions is to go there in person. I want to know if this can be resolved without court because she would end up losing more money taking a day off work than the $60 ticket. But she is doesn't want to plead guilty for something she didn't do. Any help would be appreciated.

A: Unfortunately if you want to contest the ticket she will need to take a day off from work. By the way she does not need to be driving the car for a parking ticket she could have given the car for someone else to drive it in Jersey city and the wrong car make could be considered a clerical error.
