A: If you were injured, you should seek medical attention immediately. Next, you should consult with a personal injury attorney. Many of us offer free consultations and will represent you on a contingent basis if your case has merit, so it will not cost you anything out of pocket to obtain the opinion and guidance of an experienced professional.

If you were not injured as a result of the collision, I recommend adhering to the summons and attending court on the day specified.

A: Possibly plead not guilty.

Sounds like it was failure to yield. In your case a tough one as you had the duty to yield. A lot will depend on what part of their car hit what part of yours, etc.

You want to get a copy of the full police report. You call a member of the Ill. Trial Lawyers Assn--they give free consults.

A: As Mr. Munsing commented, you were probably cited for Failure to Yield the Right of Way. Going from one alley, into another, you COULD NOT have had the Right of Way. Report this to YOUR insurance immediately and cooperate, fully.
