It’s unlikely due to both the statute of limitations (since accident was in 2019) and the fact that there was a settlement. However if the amputation has some additional cause (medical negligence perhaps?), then it might be possible to recover in some other way. It’s best to contact a lawyer to... View More

Q: How do I proceed with legal action against a hospital for giving me third degree radiation burns on my face from a CT

Scan that left imprints of teeth tongue and bone of my mouth inside on the outside of my face on both sides of my cheeks.

I recommend promptly speaking with an attorney in the state where the CT scan occurred. To answer your question, a lawsuit will need to be filed where you will need to demonstrate that the medical personnel were negligent, specifically by failing to conform to the appropriate standard of care in... Q: Can I file an extension for the 2yr statute of limitations in Illinois if the plaintiff was legally incompetent?

The laws and exceptions to extend are different for each state I believe. So would I have time to extend in Illinois if I can prove the plaintiff was legally incompetent at time of injury and the defendant was out of state? How can I file the extension before the statute expires?

The answer to this question would depend, in part, on whether the Plaintiff was under a "legal disability" at the time of the injury, as Illinois law provides for an "exception" to the general statute of limitations rule, with respect to people with a "legal... View More

Q: I got a ticket for expired license plate. Been expired for 2 months. I just bought the car from a lease a while back.

Secretary of State didn’t remove the lease off the plates. I was wondering if I can avoid the ticket.

Hello,

I would recommend requesting records under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and/or contacting the police department that issued the report to get more information. If you are unfamiliar with this process I recommend contacting an attorney to help you.

Have a nice day!

Q: I rear ended someone because I taught they had gone ahead taking a yield turn but instead they stopped and I went

Ahead but saw they were there and breaked too late, I got a ticket for “ driving too fast” and I don’t have to appear in court. It was a minor hit, my car didn’t get damaged and the other car got a slight dent and some scratches from my license plate. Should I plea guilty ?

If you plead guilty, without appearing in court (ie paying the ticket), it will be a conviction on your driving record and may affect your insurance, and potentially cause other problems. I would recommend speaking to a lawyer to see if you can have it dismissed or if you are eligible for court... View More
