Kissimmee, FL asked in Child Support for Illinois

Q: Son is 18 and not graduating on time. Will have to attend summer school to makeup a class. Do I have to continue paying?

My support order has a termination date of May 27. My son is 18 and was supposed to graduate at the end of May, but since he has to make up a class, he might end up going to summer school. Worst case is that he has to go back to high school part-time for the class from Sept-Jan. Do I have to continue to pay child support?

A: You only pay according to the court orders in effect.

Of course, the other parent could go back to court to ask for support to continue until he finishes high school or turns 19, whichever is earlier.
