Asked in Consumer Law for Florida

Q: I have a sewing machine repair company come to my home. He took my machine back with him to fix a problem.

He had "fixed" my machine several times over the years. He brought a new machine this time and tried to get me to buy it. I told him it as nice, but I did not want to buy it. But he left it with me and took MY machine to do repairs he MISSED less than a month earlier.

Then he wanted me to bring to him the new machine he left and pick up mine: Problem, I am 69 years old and cannot lift them and my car will not carry them (without much help, struggling and could easily be damaged.)

I called and told him that. Then he said he would NOT pick up his machine or bring mine to me

or even allow me on his premises! They are 100 miles away.

Yikes, I fix up items sew for those who know me (that's how I am able to by bills! Social security is NOT enough!

The company is in Orlando, FL (100+ miles away)

A: I find it hard to believe that you let him take your machine, and leave his, without any document being signed. Such a document would probably contain the terms regarding his working on the machine, bringing it back to you, etc.

What does he plan on doing if you just keep his machine?
