I completed my bachelors in December (my completion end date was in February). Since I graduated in feb, I thought my program end date would still be may and I didn’t apply for OPT. Later I realized that I was under the false assumption and have missed the deadline to apply for OPT within 60 days.

Additionally, my asylum application is on pending and have EAD card through that. I wanted to apply for masters and was wondering if I can still apply for OPT or reinstate my status. Many universities won’t accept me since my asylum is still on pending.

A: Complex situation. You should not try to solve this online. Schedule a consultation with an experienced immigration attorney.

A: Is it that they won’t accept you at all or as an F-1? You should be able to seek admission to a university or college even as an asylum applicant because you are authorized to be in the US while your application is pending.
