Q: How soon after a death will the probate process start? Is there any way to delay it?

There is no 'hard and fast' deadline, and how long things take to start depends a LOT on what there is to do. Delaying is rarely a good idea however, and you should consult with a local probate attorney to get real advice on what is appropriate for your case and why you need to do what you need to do!
