Stony Brook, NY asked in Traffic Tickets for New York

Q: Caught going 86 in a 55 near bloomington, Indiana with a NY learners permit in a rental car. How keep it off my record?

Hi,

I live in New York and went for a vacation to Bloomington, Indiana. I was caught going 86 in a 55 with a NY learners permit(and INDIA driving license) in a rental car. What should I do? Is there a way to keep this off my driving record when I apply for the driving test to get the license?

Do I definitely need to travel to Indiana to attend the court hearing?

Is there a way I can avoid going to the court on that date, may be with a letter or a phone call or something? Please suggest.

A: As long as the charge isn't a crime in Indiana, the conviction won't affect you in NY. Just pay it, or get an attorney in Indiana to reduce it for you, if that is cost effective.
