Q: I was driving a friends car and got into an accident - are they exposed to get sued if they own the car?

A: Their liability insurance is primary for any claim made by the other driver, assuming you were at fault. If you weren't at fault it doesn't matter.\

Regardless of fault, if you were hurt your insurance if you have car insurance or live with a relative that does pays for your medical bills. If you don't own a vehicle and don't live with a relative that does then the insurance of the car you are in has a medical provision that will pay your bills up to the limits (In Pennsylvania that's a minimum of $5,000 per person medical coverage).
