Tampa, FL asked in Animal / Dog Law for Florida

Q: We take care of my daughters pets, who live w/us. 1got sick, we took her to the Vet. had to be put down.

I texted her and let her know we were taking her to the Vet. She never respond. I called and left a msg to let her know what was going on. She didn't answer my call. I finally reached her boyfriend in FB and let him know Id been trying reach her and that the dog had to be put down due to advanced heartworms. Probably due to the previous owners neglect. When I couldn't reach my daughter my husband I felt we needed to go ahead with the euthanasia. No sooner they took her back and she called me and asked me if I killed her dog? In the midst of trying to explain to her, she kept caling me dog killer and that she was going to call the police on us. Did we do something wrong? We thought we were helping. She knew the dog was sick and didnt do anything about it. We take care of the dogs. Buy it food and treats. Take them out while she leaves for days at a time. Im just so taken back by the traetment. We just wanted to help. We loved the pup too.

A: I really don't think the police are going to imagine you, or the vet, committed a crime.
