West Chester, OH asked in Child Custody, Child Support, Divorce and Family Law for Ohio

Q: I'm to appear Pro Se in court, not by choice 4 Divorce Case. My Ex wont help & I can't afford for Attorney myself.

I am seeking some Pro-Bono, or very low cost legal advice/ representation in a Civil Divorce case filed against me in Lake county IL.

My husband left " for a new Job" 1year ago, leaving our 11y,o daughter(with ASD), and me behind. He said he wanted us to join him once our home here was sold, or when our daughter finished elementary education whichever came sooner.

However, 2 weeks ago (exactly 1year) later, he filed for divorce & drastically reduced his contributions to the home.

He was always the bread winner and sole provider, now according to what his lawyer told me: "He only needs to pay child support which can range from $600 to $1200 in IL, until the judge orders him otherwise." ( He makes >$100K/ vs. My <$10K/year)

So far he's stopped all payments to the home here, told me I was "now a squatter;" and to "get out now" b4 the bank foreclosed on the home. He also refused to help me with Attorney/ Court fees? I earn less than $200 a week we (married 19+years)

A: Use the Find a Lawyer tab to retain a local divorce attorney in Lake County, IL where the court is. The attorney can advise you about seeking spousal support (alimony) along with child support, and the court also could order your spouse to pay your attorney fees. Call around to attorneys in Lake County to find one to help you.
