Q: What can be done if your kids don't like their fathers girlfriend?
We have 2 daughters age 8 and 10 and have joint custody. His girlfriend is very hateful towards them to the point where they cry to me about her almost weekly. Their school counselor has called me several times to discuss what they say about her and to share her concerns. I've also had conversations with him and his girlfriend about how the kids are feeling and then she gets on to them for talking to me about it. I'm at a loss of what to do. She has slapped my youngest across the face once, but other than that incident I don't think they are in any physical harm it's the mental harm that worries me.
A: At first glance before reading the entire passage I would have said that the father has rights and has to make his own judgment calls when it comes to his "friends." But, after reading your passage in its entirety I am actually quite concerned about the level of emotional and physical abuse that your children have had to endure. It is our jobs as parents to protect our children. You've got to take some action to modify and even report the abuse. A modification is in order. Let us know if we can help 888-343-4529 #1.
