Palm Coast, FL asked in Criminal Law for Florida

Q: Are chances better with private attorney than if defending self on VOP drug offender case 1st offense in Palatka, FL?

On 1st appearance my son mistakenly put on affidavit he made $700 a week and now doesn't qualify for a public defender was told he can only represent his self or hire an attorney. 2/4/19 is arraignment, he is in jail and I (mom) can't afford an attorney. 7/31/18 He was put on 2 year probation spent 1st month in recovery completed their 30 day. Bumpy road since then and violated on 12/6, warrant issued from po, she suggested detox & rehab until arrest. detox from 8th until 20th had just started a recovery program when arrested. Waste of money for attorney? what are chances judge would allow him to go back into recovery if he represents his self at arraignment? Has had private attorney in past but can't afford one now.

A: Considering he has no job and no assets, he should reapply as it sounds like he now qualifies
