Q: Is an intervention an “original suit?” I’ve told my attorney that “no, it’s an intervention INTO an original suit.”
Who is correct? I would think this to be fairly obvious but I believe my attorney has ulterior motives in how this case is resolved and is trying to keep me from pushing the issue of having a petition to intervene struck.
A: An intervention is when a party joins in a suit because it has an interest in the outcome of the issues at hand. It sounds like you and your attorney are having a miscommunication problem. Hopefully, just on this issue. Ask for a conference and just tell your attorney you don’t understand what’s going on and to explain it to you in simple terms. Keep trying to work together to resolve your case. That’s my suuggestion. Sometimes, we lawyers can be so lawyerly...Good luck.
