North Providence, RI asked in Car Accidents for Rhode Island

Q: totaled truck buy back repair myself under ri 31-46 -7 part c then retitle?

I want to repair my totaled truck myself. Ins co, and dmv say it can only be repaired by someone with salvage rebuilders licence. Law says I can rebuild it if title is stamped "for parts only". I hold the title. Can I repair it and then get it retitled?

A: The title will likely remain a salvage title for the life of the vehicle.

A: question is if it's for parts only will they issue you tags with that title? Also, understand what's involved--may be way more hassle than it's worth--if your truck won't track correctly and can never be alligned right you may be shredding tires every year.
