Gainesville, FL asked in Child Custody for Florida

Q: I'm an international student, with a daughter! which are my father rights and how I could apply them in Florida?

Hi, I'm living the next situation:

I`m an international student of UF.

One year ago I separated from my partner (never married) and by common agreement, we defined a parenting plan for our little girl (4-year-old), including 50-50 time sharing! My ex-partner is an International student too. I`m from Colombia and her is from Brazil, Our girl was born in Brazil, but we’re living in Gainesville since 4 years ago!

Currently, my ex-partner have to take the decision to leave to Brazil, and she wants to go with our daughter! I would like to understand my options to keep effective my parenting rights!

Thank you in advance!

All the best

A: If you have been living continuously in Florida for the past six months and the child is here then you can immediately file for paternity where you live. You should find a local family lawyer to help you.
