Odessa, TX asked in Family Law and Child Custody for Texas

Q: Hello,I'm seeking legal aid help for a family law matter concerning my son.

I have custody and court papers showing that I have joint custody of my son with my mom. My sons father has supervised visitation and it even states that he is presumed a danger to my son in ways on the court papers. I just recently moved out to Odessa from Tyler and my sons father has taken my son and moved him to wherever he is living. He has enrolled him in school even though he has no legal right to do so. He is refusing to let me contact my son or see him. I tried to make arrangements to meet up with him so I can get him back and he is refusing to cooperate with us. I have in fact had to contact the police in the area of which he is living now and they advised me to just take him from school and leave because legally I have all the custody. However I now live 8 or so hours away from where he is in school and am limited on what days I can go there. I've been trying to contact my sons father for a month now and I just got a response from him saying he is not letting me have him back

A: You should really obtain legal counsel in your area to make sure that you are asserting your rights in the correct legal manner according to the terms of the order. You do not want to be charged with kidnapping yourself. Good luck.
