Cleveland, OH asked in Car Accidents for Ohio

Q: I was recently in a non injury auto accident. Grange is my insurance co and Fine Line is the body shop.

Initially it was deemed repairable and then was marked as a total loss. Fine Line is basically holding my car hostage asking for an exorbitant amount for work they were not even authorized to do. The insurance company wants me to pay the difference between what they feel is reasonable and what Fine Line is charging. I need to know what the legalities are.

A: If fine line did it without authorization it should be on them. Your position should be that the insurance company should pay and then go after fine line. File a complaint with the insurance commissioner. Talk to your state rep.
