Freeport, FL asked in Divorce and Family Law for Florida

Q: Am I the only one that thinks helping others shouldn’t be about money ? when isn’t it ok to abandon your wife ?

My Husband of 17 years emptied out the bank account and walked out. He left me penniless with no means to provide for myself, denied me medical treatment refuses to give me cash to get the medical treatment leaving me to call 911 and taken out by ambulance. How is this OK ? According to Walton County he's not breaking any laws its his right. It's my right to have legal representation, but yet even legal aid won't help me. Obviously I cannot pay for a lawyer. Almost 4 weeks later and I'm still begging for help for money to live , and pay the bills. I don't know what else to do I don't know who to turn to. Is this really what this world is coming to ? Am I the only one that still has a heart to help others, even if I can't help myself ? Some are probably reading this saying get a job .easier said than done when I'm disabled and waiting on a court hearing.

I guess it's just another night of roman noodles and tears feeling sorry for myself, Wondering why no one cares.

A: I am very sorry to hear of this sad situation. However, although you cannot see how you will make it right now, I assure you that you will get through this nightmare--and someday you will thank the Good Lord for allowing these problems to come into your life--because you will no longer be living in bondage with the terrible person you described.

Big Hint: Legal aid is the last resort, and saved for the most destitute people among us. So, if legal aid will not help you it is probably because you have too many available assets--like the home your husband abandoned--to be able to meet their stringent tests. Another hint: Most judges can see the Truth and will be glad to help you reimburse a divorce lawyer by ordering your husband to pay all you fees and costs. Final hint: You may have to hire a lawyer who does not practice in the same community where your and your husband live.
