Q: How to adopt a baby we have been having since 2 days old and is about to turn 2?
My husband and I have been having a baby since birth and he is almost 2. Originally his birth mom signed guardianship to us to avoid foster care. When born he tested positive for street drugs. In short, CPS had mom to take drug test after released and mom still tested positive. She has since skipped states and haven’t seen baby since he was a month old. CPS has closed case since mom no longer lives in texas. We would like to adopt him now and don’t know the steps we need to take. Mom has no intentions of coming back for him and we have never known who father could be since mom was involved in traveling prostitution. We need an attorney that can help us adopt.
