Houston, TX asked in Products Liability for Texas

Q: Hello, What type of lawyer would I hire to find and or verify patents, trademarks, and or copyrights on products

I am getting into the baby teether and pacifier clip business and every body is throwing around cease and desist letters like candy on color combos and claiming they have the rights to them so I would like to confirm that

A: What kind of lawyer? It sounds like contacting a trademark attorney or patent attorney could be a good place to start. Once you tell them what the cease and desist letters are about, hopefully they could better evaluate your situation. If you're getting such letters, it might be good to speak with someone sooner than later. I saw your question under Products Liability - which deals with injury cases related to defective products. It doesn't sound like that is the type of lawyer you need - unless your letters are related to alleged injuries or hazards in your product, which doesn't seem to be the case. Good luck
