Hanover, MD asked in Personal Injury, Products Liability and Small Claims

Q: Product bought that leaked chemicals that caused sever burns and scarring.

Ice pack product purchased. Applied per instructions was one for about 15 minutes. Suffered chemical burns and blistering as well as significant scarring. I'm assuming product was not sealed properly.

A: I am sorry to hear about this. Can you provide me with more information? Do you still have the product and the instructions? Do you have photos of your injuries? Thanks,

A: You haven't asked a question. I assume the question is, do you have a viable case? In order to determine whether you have a viable case, you will need to speak to a qualified product liability lawyer in your area. However, any lawyer will want you to save the package, medically document the injury (i.e., make an appointment with your primary care doctor and/or a dermatologist or other doctor qualified to treat whatever the medical condition is) and take photographs until you get to the lawyer and or Dr. to show the development of the wound. You should also keep any purchase receipts as anybody in the retail chain may be liable, including the seller. If the product is defective and where the packaging failed through negligence, you may have a viable claim.
