Huntsville, AL asked in Banking and Federal Crimes for Alabama

Q: Is this fraud?

In December 2018 I was given 2 Thrivent Financial debit cards loaded with $250 each, $500 total. Both cards have "valid thru 09/21". I used one of the cards for around $25 shortly after receiving it, but the next time I tried to use it the card was declined. My wife tried to use the other card and it was also declined.

After letting the generous couple that sent them know what was going on they contacted Thrivent. Basically what I got, from them relating to me Thrivent's explanation to them, was this - irrelevant to the "valid thru 09/21", that there was another date that was withheld from us that the cards had to be used by, and apparently when the money was not used by the date kept secret from us it was pulled from the account by Thrivent!!!

To me this is fraud....is it legally fraud?

And yes, Gary, I believe them...100%. By the way, if your answer was a question, why even bother ..
