Astoria, NY asked in Divorce for New York

Q: Is "Request for Judicial Intervention" mandatory in an uncontested divorce in Manhattan, NY?

in February 2019 I used an agent to file an uncontested divorce in Manhattan, NY. I checked with the clerk a couple of times, they say it's pending and nothing to do. I checked my case on the "webcivil supreme - case detail" again, noticed both "RJI Filed" and "Justice" leaves blank. I'm not sure if Request for Judicial Intervention is required. Does my agent mess it up?

Normally uncontested divorce takes 4-6 months. I've already waited for 8 months. Do I have to wait at the end of the line again after I file the RJI? Or I could skip the line and justice will sign any day from then?

A: An RJI does need to be filed. You normally do not need to wait from the beginning of the line again once you file any missing documents.

A: RJI has to be filed with every case.

A: As the others have said, an RJI must be filed in every case. Its simply the form used to assign a judge to a case.
