New Caney, TX asked in Criminal Law, Consumer Law, Civil Rights and Constitutional Law for Texas

Q: We need representation in regards to opt out fee being charged by the Texas PUC for the AMI electric meter

The Texas puc has informed us there is no local/state or federal requiring us to take a ami electric meter yet we have to pay a opt out fee AND 30.00 extra dollars a month on our electric bill PLUS they have been charging for ami meters on our bill and they have not "deployed" them yet. We are very disturbed over this - we paid the opt out fee because in our previous home in spring Texas in centerpoints service area we were LIED to by one of their attorneys on how often the meters transmit I have written proof and we video taped measuring the transmissions which is every 10-15 seconds and the attorney told us a couple times thru the night. We were very sick from these meters that is why we opted out where we live now - in the mafia that is called extortion- you pay us we wont harm you type scenario- we really need to talk with someone about what to do.

A: You could contact the State Bar of Texas to see if they could provide guidance in selecting the appropriate type of attorney. Good luck
