Little Elm, TX asked in Contracts and Internet Law for Texas

Q: Is there a grace period during which you can cancel an online "membership" (Six Flaggs)? I purchased without understand

I bought multiple duplicate memberships for which they charged my card 200 dollars. They also want to keep chARGING me for 12 months. I realized the mistake within 24hrs and contacted them in person and online to try and straighten it out. But they insist I owe them 1800.00 to cancel, even without using the "membership". Made the purchase on the 19th, tried to correct it on the 20th at the park, (they said no) and online dispute on the 21st. Also denied. I have no money to pay this. Thought the 200.00 was for the whole year.

A: Contract grace periods are governed by regional conditions, so a Texas attorney can best advise you. But your question remains open for two weeks. Unfortunately, outside of such limited exceptions, the general rule is that a contract becomes enforceable at time of formation. In light of your financial hardship, you could contact the State Bar of Texas to explore if they have any resources that can help, even if it's guidance for small claims. I'm sorry an innocent mistake resulted in this financial hardship for you. Good luck
