Q: If my fiance's an alien and wants to become a citizen in the USA will my crime background affect him doing so?

A: You will be allowed to sponsor your alien fiancé for his green card unless your criminal history involves violation of the Adam Walsh Act. I suggest you work with a lawyer to represent you. Counsel anywhere in the USA can represent you.

A: Typically the only time that your criminal background would become an issue is if any convictions are for criminal sexual conduct. If so then they may he covered under what is known as the Adam Walsh Act which seeks to protect the potential immigrant from coming in and becoming a sex slave or a victim of criminal sexual conduct. There are specific rules to follow in these cases. If you have such a conviction, you should consult an experienced immigration attorney.
