Q: Pregnant girlfriend and her stepfather threatening child support for being a lazy bum even tho it's not true.
Please help, my girlfriend is 6 months pregnant, she didn't find out she was pregnant till once she was 2 months. Long story short, she still lives with her parents and so do I, when her stepfather found out she was pregnant he talked to me and said I had till she was 7 months to man up and move her out and put her on my insurance, I pay for all her bills, I pay her parents 300 in the beginning and 400 at the end of the month, I pay her phone bill 100 a month and I pay the groceries she has to buy twice a month for a total of 80. I also give her money for food, clothes, etc. I just managed to put her on the insurance, but even after all that they still say I'm a lazy bum and want child support, she forced me to quit my part time job at Wells Fargo, I wanted to make my way up but couldn't get the promotion, right now I'm starting a landscaping with my dad, I work 6 times a week from 8 to 7. I'm doing everything I can to show I love her and wanna be there for my son, idk what to do.
A: Your best bet is to hire an attorney to set out both you and the mother's responsibilites as it relates to the child. I would not suggest you rely on the Attorney General as they follow cookie cutter custody and visitation rules. You may want your own. Let us know if we can assist. 888-343-4529.
